remote starters

I hope this is the right place for this. I was thinking of getting my bf one of these for cmas but don't have a clue on which one or anything or even if they're worth it. He's got a '92 F150, don't want anything fancy, with the alarm or door locks, that's not needed. Any help or advice with this would be appreciated. Thanks

For aftermarket, DEI is a very good name, they own several companies such as clifford, viper, valet, ect. I know Valet has a start only system that is pretty cheap. However, they are a pain to install so check locally for someone who installs and sells them.

Has he expressed interest in a remote starter?

Fuel injected vehicles don't need to be warmed up for more than 30 seconds before starting out and letting a vehicle idle unnecessarily, while cold will cause premature wear... The engine warms up much faster when it's being driven/worked, as opposed to idling and less wear occurs at operating temperature. Not to mention unnecessary wasting of fuel.

Ohh, but is it nice to have the heater warming or the AC cooling before you climb in. I only use mine 5-10 times a year, but I love it when I do use it.

Thanks guys. Well this probably isn't going to happen because according to his brother (who is a mechanic and owns his own shop up north) "those are a waste of money" and "I wouldn't put one in my vehicle" (and some other reasons he said). So I guess that would answer it for me and also because he would have been the one to put it in!

Thanks anyway.
