Edelbrock jets
For a while I was wondering why my truck wasn't running the best it should. I took my neighbor for a ride and he told me to stand it, which I did. The truck got up and moved, but not like it should of???? Last night, I decided to pull the carb and see what was going on inside in the way of metering rods, jets, etc. Everything looked good, I pulled the jets to see what size they were and discovered that Edelbrock had put them in backwards, in other words, my primary jets were 400 and the secondaries were 395. The truck idled nice, but did nothing when the secondaries came on. LOL.... This carb has never been opened since purchased from Edelbrock. I switched the jets and what a difference. Even the idle is nice. It actually went up 300 RPM at idle and I had to lower the idle speed. Wonder how many other Edelbrock carbs that's happened to?????

That is interesting, Ed. I have the 600 CFM 1406 on my 351W, and like you, have noticed that not much happens when stomping it, save a lot of sound and fury. I may pull the top off and check those jets. I've had the carb apart a couple times, but have been very careful to put things back as they were.

Do you find your 1406 hard to start after setting for a week? What type of fuel pump do you have? I have mechanical pump and it is hard to start after a few days. If it is only a day or two, it starts immediately. Over on the Mopar forum there are a lot of complaints about hard starting with this carb. Mine runs real well so I don't think I will mess with it.
