300 inline 6 lacks power
hey guys! what's up?
i have a 1978 ford. best truck ever in my opoinion. that engine has no problems. works beautiflly. it's just lacking power to get up and go espceally on the highway. it takes for ever to get going. do any of you have any ideas i can do to it without swapping for a 351 or ripping apart the entire engine. the engine only has 136 000k on it.

Most people around here will probably recommend you get headers, new intake with bigger carb. This will open the motor up some to make it run even better. To make it get up and go the next thing most people would recommend new gears in the rear axle. I am almost certain that you can go to 3.73 without dramatic mpg loss and gain a lot more get up and go. Simple mods that will make a difference, if you are content with the motor's performance don't waste your money on anything other than new gears in your rear axle. It'll make alot of difference.
