On another note, anyone notice the two white x-cab SD's at around 0:55-0:58 in the video? I really think they are Ford's fabeled 'Hoss Editions'! Looking at a picture of an '05 prototype of the Hoss, I think the bed mounted spares are a dead giveaway for them being Hoss Editions!
I think the sorb truck is the white one parked about 1min into the clip it has the offroad front bumper. I would love that test drive as long as if I break it I don't have to pay for it.
I never knew about the SORP trucks, interesting! I guess Ford turned their off-road eye away from the public and onto the private sectors. Hmph, I'd glady pay for one!
Krewat, I could never get a good still shot of the vents either, and I haven't spent enough time around the new diesels to recongize their engine sound. I'll just imagine they have 3V'ers under the hood...ahhh nice thoughts....
SORP stands for Special Off Road Package and it is meant for military and oil company use where a truck needs to be able to go offroad and out into harsh environments and still be able to bring you home without hummer or semi truck prices and a mix of both abilities. Most of the trucks were XL or FX4 with the SORP package added and a manual T-case and alot of skid plates, offroad bumpers with winch options and full suspension mods. Plus industy grade tires and rims.
I know Extreme 4x4 on spikes aired an episode where they got a real SORP truck and made a replica from an FX4 or an XLT i do not remember
