Locker

I have been researching lockers, for open 8.8 rear, and here is what I have come up with:
Automatic locker: Sucks for street use, the truck will be seeing probably 50/50 street/trails
Pneumatic locker: Little to expensive
Ox Cable locker: Way to expensive
My question is will somethign like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...QQcmdZViewItem
Work out well, it is more in my price range, but was not sure if it is compatible.
Thanks.
Sean

If you only go 50/50 and don't get stuck too often a winch and some block and tackle
for the times you get stuck could be a better solution. If you only are getting stuck in
real sloppy deep mud say from being high centered or something a locker is not going
to help at all and you will need to be pulled out anyway. http://winchcentral.com/catalog/prod...59c3bc77817adf

one or two of those and you could get a smaller winch if you used them all the time
to increase the pulling power but it does take longer. You could get a really good
come along and some of those blocks for a truly cheap solution that will get youout
of 90% of trouble.

I put a locker in my 86 F150 with 3.73s, its in a 9 inch rear though. Mine is locked 100% of the time, the only time it gets annoying is if i give it gas going around a sharp corner, the inside tire will chirp and feels like it wants to hop around.

Other then what I stated above it does just fine on the street, it tears through mud and snow a lot better now too.

I am using Powertrax No-Slip "lunch box" lockers in both of my F150s. Overall I am happy with the performance, they can be a little cranky going around corners. The trucks do tend to fishtail on wet or snowy roads (you will get that with any type of traction aid) but for going through unimproved areas and in deep snow they are unbeatable...along with having good tires of course. I think I paid around $460 for each of them, IMO it was money well spent. They have gotten me out of tough situations many times over, that alone made them worth buying. The installation was a piece of cake, it only took about a half an hour and you don't have to run any special additives like you would with most limited slip units. I vote on running a locker as well.
