My new 2008 F-350 has an option called "Rapid Heat supplemental Cab heater". It lists on the invoice as item 41 H for a retail of $250.00. Under the King Ranch options, it shows the seat heaters, and the seat heaters switch is moved to the dash from the seats on my 2005.
Anyone know what this option does? My dealer said it is fast seat heaters which I find hard to believe. Thanks,
Its electric heat that kicks in before your coolant is warm enough to heat the interior. Would be a nice option considering how long it takes for diesls to warm up.
I've got the heated seats which seams to work just fine.

"Rapid Heat supplemental Cab heater" provides heat throught the normal A/C heater vents before the engine coolant has warmed up.

I presume that the thermostat then controls the start up of the supplemental heater? Sounds like a good feature. I am anxious to see how it works in PA cold temps. Thanks for info.

Yes this option is only available with the 6.4 diesel engine, it is not available on the gas engines, and it works pretty much like everyone else has said. Let us know how you like it!!!
Hmmm I wonder if I can get a set of heated seats for my 99......I am getting tired of chipping the ice off my @ss on cold mornings....leather sucks when it is cold.
waorgny:
So far, this is how I like the truck overall. Too cold to be outside, and I am spending too much time on this computer:
Other pickup trucks say why,
This truck says, why not.
Competing engines try to compare,
The 6.4 PSD offers 350 HP dare!
Gorgeous, imposing, ostentatious & grand,
When this 350 arrives, so does the big band.
Feel like taking this truck, in the rough,
Do it, Cause you know it’s built Ford tough!

This is why I always request vehicles with cloth, it isn't as nice as leather, but it isn't cold in the winter(rather long up here) and hot in the summer.

I usually do the same...but when I bought my truck....it had low miles for it's age....excellent condition...and the dealer had screwed up and advertised it wrong....So I got it for $14k when they were really trying to get $19k. I showed them the ad and started screaming false advertising..and when they tried to push me to another truck...Bait and switch. I'm just glad I had my credit union already approve me for it otherwise I don't think the dealer would of put any effort into getting me financed for it....they weren't to happy with me.

Just did the drivers seat in my 02 last weekend. Cold front came through Sunday night and I drove to work with a smile on my face and a warm backside Monday morning.
Redford:
You really don't know truck hell. 20 years ago my son worked for me. I had a 1987 Ford F-250, plain jane. I hated working Saturdays. After a young man's night out with adult beverage, aka, ROLLING ROCK beer, I would clearly explain to son: Wind the window down, any smells from your bode, open door and also point face at window opening. After four years in the USMC he learned temperment and other things.
