Since I never had 4x4 in the past, I would like to know if this is a problem or a normal thing on 4x4 vehicles.
When I'm turning on the snow at low speeds (usually under 10 mph) with 4x4 HIGH, I have to press gas harder than usual to start moving and then truck shakes for a moment and then everything works fine.
So this doesn't happen always, just when I'm turning with 4x4 HIGH at very low speeds on the snow.
Should I worry?
Truck is 2005 F-150 SuperCab 4x4 w/ 4.6L, 5600 miles on odometer.
Depending on how deep the snow is it sounds like it's biting in before it gets going and you would have nothing to worry about. 4 wd is awkward at low speeds most of the time, feels like it's binding up sometimes but that's just how it is...I think
What you are describing sounds normal. When 4x4 is engaged, the turning radius will be reduced. The shaking\bouncing you are feeling is because everything is now locked into place and your tires are sliding a little across the snow. Definately don't want to do this on dry pavement.
