1986 Second Year FI?
Hi all, is 1986 the second year for Fuel injection on the 300's, i knew it was for 302/351, just didnt know about the 300's, how good of gas milage will it get if it is FI in a 86 150 4x2? Thanks again guys

1986 was the first year for all of the 302s to be EFI from the factory. In 85 they had some of the earlier ones carbed and then went to EFI. That was the only motor that was EFI in a truck in 85-86. The 351 and 300 were both still carburated then. Im not for sure when they went to EFI with the other motors.

well i had an 84 f150 shortbed with a 300 in it. i had 31's on it and a 3 speed automatic with no od. the truck got 13 to 15mpg but it also had 267000 miles on her.wish i still had her.hope this helps

Oh, I read your post wrong! I thought you wanted to know the MPG on the truck in your sig. I have heard of people with 80-86 F150s with 300s in them getting around 22 MPG. That would vary depending on gear ratios and if you have an overdrive or not, and your driving habits would probably affect it some too.

Be prepared for a 86 300 carbed engine to be computerized. If there is something wrong with the engine, it takes a little bit to get it sorted out. It's not as well known a system as the fuel injection is.
