you also have to reprogram the pcm for the gears so it knows what it has. disconecting the battery here is not enough. if you already have a programer use it . input needed is gear ratio and tire turns per mile.then you will have your trans shift coreectly.
hey CAP how ya been. good to read you on here again, hahaha!
i don't have the programmer but i run the super lift truspeed. to recalibrate for tire/gear swap. it works great i think. i've noticed alot of programmers only can recalibrate to a 35-36" tire...........wouldn't work for us running a 36+ tire.
even switching from a 38" tire to a 39.5 i used a gps to track MPH and reset the truspeed to the correct mph with a little screw driver (do not attempt by your self, hahaha). my wife held the wheel and i turned the screws to match mph's! after the recalculation i noticed everything in sequence more, crisper shift, and shifting at the right rpm. i got mine off ebay for $100 new. to me it's been better than a programmer.
is it worth having it done to extend the rpm to shift points i do not want to be shifting early
For your 00' the Diablosport tuner will make all the changes and then some needed for the change in gears.
With 4:30s over the 3:73s you may shift earlier in regular driving as well as WOT because the truck will move easier with the 4:30s. Monsta made a good point earlier, correcting the speedo only will still have the pcm thinking your running 3:73s. You can reflash the computer with the tuner for the 4:30s and the tuner will automatically make a shift point adjustment. I used my SCT to reflash for my 33's among other things and noticed the tranny will hold the gear slightly longer before shifting.
TOOK THE TRUCK to the dealer yesterday and they said that there computer could only program for tire size and not the gear change any help? I do not wish to tune this truck to have to run 93 oct. in it with a tuner. Also has any one ever used the banks tranny pak or there programer i saw it in one of the ads on the forum thanks
