\I called the dealer to see what was going on, and they told me that its a known issue with something corroding in the tank and that i should be getting gas at a chevron station. Anyone hear about this?
Your dealer may be right.... but it makes you wonder why Ford recommends BP fuel on the gas cap.
Is BP a chevron station? I would really like to understand the makeup of the fuel and what could possibly cause something to corrode in the tank or what would keep it from corroding.

BP stations are owned by the British Petroleum Co. They are not affiliated with Cheveron. The gas you buy at a Cheveron station already has the Cheveron Techron cleaning fluid in the gas.
So why does my gas cap tell me to go to BP stations, and the ford dealer service manager tell me to go to chevron? I guess im just really confused as to why it would even make a difference what gas station I use.... the truck just started doing this the last time I filled up and it's only 10 months old! I'm a loyal Ford driver for many reasons, but I'd be willing to bet that if some people were told where they were going to have to buy their gas before they bought their truck then it might change their decision.
