OK im new to fords so take it easy on me. My question is, I see bits and pieces of information about a MAF conversion on these trucks and kits on summit and so on and so forth. Could someone go into a little detail for me about this upgrade. Im not a newbie to engines and there controls so you dont have to explain what the MAF does just about this mod. I have a MAF sensor from a 01 F150 will it fit my 94 F150 with the harness, what kind of increase in power are we talking about, will it afect my mpg too much and in what way? I was comparing the 01 to my 94 and it is a bit larger so it this where the difference comes in? Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions.
I don't think you will really nottice a huge increase in power, but you might getting slightly better MPG. The MAF conversion is usally for people with after market intakes or who are turbo/supercharging
I have installed 4 setups all Factory ford F150 the 94-95 (96 also but allot of wire/sensor changes ) could be found with the 302 Maf in the auto configuration. But I have put it on 351 and guy r happy. Run great but PCM values will be off .(more CC)
Is it worth it. If you can get a set up like me for $200 go for it. They do get better MPG I want form 13 to a strong 15 MPG and is allot more peppy . If you drive allot of miles it will pay for its self
The use of your 04 MAF ,I don't know ,they do work the same . But you need a PCU from a 94-95 F150 or stang and to repin your harness. Most kits r piggyback Or they dont require allot of rewiring. Good luck
I looked back and I didnt see anything. Does anyone have a link to some info on this? I would like to do some reading on this mod. As for upgrades I havent done any yet but this week I will be installing headers, free flowing exhaust with a flowmaster, smog eleminator pully and an E-fan. Next week I will install either a fabricated ram air setup (more than likely) or just a cone filter. I see some underdrive pullys in the future and maybe a different intake. any thoughts on these mods or sugestions?

You don't need a MAF conversion for the mods you have planned, and on a stock motor you won't see any benefits besides better milage and a bit better throttle response. The upgrade does produce a better performing motor once the list of mods starts to grow however, so I'm not discouraging you. My suggestion is don't waste you money on an intake manifold, and don't put a conical filter on the end of the MAF sensor, use a drop-in filter in the stock airbox or build a custom enclosure to house the conical. The reason... you don't want the MAF element exposed to fan wash and you don't want the motor pulling in hot underhood air, both kill milage and performance. Once you have the intake and exhaust free'd up, the next step to more power is to open the valves more. Easiest way is via 1.7 rockers, though the best bang for you $$ is a cam upgrade.
If it will increase my mpg and TR then its worth my time. I have the MAF of of a 01 F150 so will it work? what else will I need? Summit sales the pigtail is that all I will need?
