The other day after we had closed down A younger guy and presumably his girlfriend knock on the door. They had a tandam axle cargo trailer with a bad wheel bearing. They were not fron here and did not know anyone around here. They asked me if I could help. the others that I work with shrugged and said" I can't fix it." So I guess i'm the only one left, I had been working 13 hours and just wanted to go back to the apartment. I felt sorry for them and I opened the bay door and broke out the jack and impact. The said they were hungry and were going to walk a fast food place. I told them that would be fine They got back about 20 minutes later and asked if I was through. I said no and told them the parts they needed. Doh! thier only truck is hooked to a 6500lb trailer. So i took the guy and got the stuff to fix it, in my car. I got it , and she sighed and said how much longer is this going to take??? AAARRRGGGG! I got them back on the road and no money, not even a thank you for my time. A similar thing happened again today!
No more nice Dusty
thanks,
Dustin

I can't stand people who try to take advantage of you. But then again when the girlfriend started sighing and complaining I probably would have ripped into her. But that's just me, I'm nice as can be untill you **** me off (which is easy) then I can be downright scary.
I'm done. no more helping people , i'll be just like the rest of the world. AND maybe i'll fit in.MAYBE BE NORMAL.......WELL I'VE BEEN TO PASSIVE
It might just be here in Waco as the majority. Out in the country where I grew up, and will move back to when i'm done with school it was not even close. Waco has some of the most ill mannered, inconsiderate, lazy, uneducated people i've ever come across, even Austin where dad livesis far better

Never do good expecting a reward, we need more people like you. You reap what you sow the good book say's. I know your upset now, but your the better person in the end. The "GOLDEN RULE" SAY'S, do un to others as you would have them do unto you!!. good job.
I have to ask this. Why didn't the guy buy the needed parts when you took him to the store? I understand that you were being nice, but why didn't you wrte up a bill?
If I were traveling, and asked a shop that just closed down for help, I'd expect to pay for the parts, plus give the mechanic something for his help.
The one time I needed a tow, I had a Dodge owner do it, and he towed me back a short distance to his house with my tow strap, which I carry for OTHER people. While waiting for AAA to tow me home, he started working on his property then got a call to leave.
So, I asked him if I could finish ripping down the fence for him and cutting up the weeds and trees. So, I got the job done (about 3 hours) by the time AAA arrived. He called me later wanting to know if I wanted to work for him
Not everyone is a slacker and not everyone is ungrateful. Yes, it can stink when people are ungrateful or do not even thank you, I help for the ones that are grateful.
Buying the parts though, you think you would have gotten at least a kiss on the cheek or the guy leaving behind the stereo or something.
It has been written that "Goodness is it's own reward". You did a good thing and should take pride in that. Never let the actions of people with bad character shape your character.
Consider it a Chirstmas present for someone that you didn't know. My family does that every year. We buy a bunch of things that are necessities and give them to a family in need..... anonomusly.
Generally I have had positive responses from those I have helped, but have been taken hard on one time. I won't buy parts for them any more either, that was one occasion I felt the need, I guess a baby stranded on the side of the road tugged at my heart strings too much... Generally i will make them buy the parts. I don't mind if don't get any pay for the work tough. But the complaining girl, that's just bull!
dont change Dustin, you would be unhappy if you did. always fight the good fight and be helpful when you can. The ungrateful people you helped are the ones that need to change. They'll never get help from you again, and one day they'll find that no one will.
The Lord loves a chreefull giver and what comes around goes around. Because of your kindness, it will come back to you one day, also the way they did you will also come back on them some day.
