62-63 wheel cylinders

62-63 wheel cylinders
we have an early 63 f100 with one armed wheel cylinders. Only a push rod on one side of cylinder. We have one bad. The one armed cylinders are twice the price of two armed ones. Can we replace the one armed cylinder without having to do any other re-engineering of brakes. It would seem that if we could do that the brakes would be a little better and the cylinders are availible at local parts houses.

Upgrade to the later 64 wheel cyl and add the pin, While at it add a new star wheel and lever along with springs and cables to do self adjusting.
All bolt in parts.
New slots may need to be cut in the Backing plates for the adjusters.

Thanks to all who replied. I searched so many sites on the internet I dont remember where I found it. It was $60 and just because it was listed didnt mean they had any. Since this is not a restoration I will go with the two arm. Can replace both fronts for what one of the elusive 1 arm price--if it can be found. It would seem the brakes would work a little better with the upgrade anyway.

Hey JimKoz, I don't need my old cylinders. They may need rebuilding but the passenger side wasn't leaking when I removed it. Don't know if they're original, or if your looking for NOS only. They have "BENDIX" stamped on the sides.
