Hello all,
I recently tuned up and adjusted my carb on my "83 300. It idles very smooth now and I cut some time off my 0-60. However, the idle wont go below 1100 rpm. The screws arent even touching the carb. The only thing keeping it from idleing down is a solenoid with a plunger that touches the throttle lever. My question is, how can I adjust this solenoid and just out of curiosity, what controls the solenoid.
Thanks

Ok guys I just unplugged the stinkin solenoid and the idle still wont go down. Neither the fast idle or curb idle screws are even touching the carb. If i pull on the throttle lever kinda hard the idle will drop and stay there until I rev it up and then it sticks up arounf 1100 again. I also checked the gas pedal to see if it had run out of travel but it was fine. Anybody have any ideas? The vacuum seams really strong but I havent checked it, and I dont think a vacuum leak would let my engine idle as smooth as it does.

You stated you could push the throttle down and the engine would idle down until you you stepped on the gas again. Sounds like the throttle plates are sticking. Look on the other side of the carb from your cable and see if anything is hanging it up there. Also, look inside the carb to see if something is jamming the plates internally. Is your cable sticking? Is you throttle return spring OK? Herman
