Well I can't figure out why my truck is overheating. First I thought it was the thermostat so I bought a new one and it did nothing. Then I thought maybe the water pump and went to replace only to realize that my radiator is leaking. So I fixed that and got a new water pump and a couple new hoses. It was fine for a couple months, but now it seems like it is overheating again. I noticed that I drained the coolant fill tank after a couple weeks, then I filled again and 2 days later it was empty! Now I'm pretty sure all my hoses are tight and not leaking because I can't see any coolant anywhere around the hoses or anywhere else for that matter. Could I have blown a head gasket or something? I guess I should mention that the temp guage doesn't work either and I'm not sure if that is just the sensor is bad or if it is some sort of electrical problem. Now since I pretty much replaced the whole cooling system, does anyone know why my truck would be overheating? Any input at all would be awesome. Thanks!
Warm up the truck and turn it off use your DVOM and set it to resistance/ohm whatever you have and ground the black lead and put the positive lead on the
temp sensor and see if you get a reading. IF it shows infinity or when it is cooled
down the numbers are the same, Replace the temp sender. Driving around with a
non functioning temp gauge is asking for trouble and you may have already found
that out!! I would at least add a aftermarket one they are usually more reliable.
