95 F150 Ignition (Help?)

My Pickup has been giving me trouble on occasion- not wanting to start.

It turns over but not seem to be firing.

fried starter about a month ago when it did the same as its doing now.
Now new starter in it, it started.

The other day after work no start. Turn over, not so much as a hint of wanting to fire. Bought a new Coil, Not it. New Ignition Module, Not it.
Had it towed to my Garage.
What do I check next and how?

Thanks, Jeff

What about your cap and rotor? The spring on the rotor over time can loose tension. Take the cap off and bend the spring on the rotor up just a hair. Also, the caps like to build up corrosion. Scrap the corrosion off with something sharp. If that works, you may want to look into a new cap and rotor.

You may also test voltage going to the coil, check coil to dist. wire, and your PIP sensor inside the distributor may be bad.

Check your engine codes. Its the easiest way to determin the problem. http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13

Engine light doesnt come on, and hasent yet.
cap and rotor are not much more than a yr old, if a year old.
Ihave had it off to see if it needed cleaned, but dont remember if I pulled the tab for better contact to coil.
What is PIP sensor?
How much voltage should be going to the coil?
What about current going to ground sid of coil?

Thanks for helping and tips.

The computer does not send spark. It can adjust the timing and the CCD.

The Computer does not read the timing. The computer believes that the timing is set at 10* BTDC and will make all adjustments from that point from tables preprogrammed in it over the SPOUT wire.

yup, thats what he was saying.
I just understand that is why I got no spark at all.
I unplugged the part he told me to, and it started right up.
Could it be something else?
If so, I really need to know, so I dont wast more money on parts that dont need replaced.

Thanks, Jeff

Was the part you unplugged the SPOUT shorting bar?
If so yes it is a good chance the computer is bad or bad wiring from the computer to the SPOUT shorting bar.

Okay, it will not fire if the computer is not getting signal from the Profile Ignition Pick-up sensor(PIP, also known as Hall Effect sensor). Its inside the distributor. The plug on the side of your distributor goes to this. When those fail, they can do what your truck is doing. They will not let the engine fire correctly if at all. The magnet inside of them either wears out or they get contaminated with dirt.

I only mention this further because if I remember correctly, this sensor is bypassed when the Spout is removed for timing. I believe it goes of predetermined points when the Spout is removed.

I'm not saying this is it for sure, but should be suspect.

Sorry, I looked into it again. The PIP is read all the time. Its something wrong with the signal to and from your ICM and ECU. I'm trying to find the link to a page that helps with tracking down this problem.
