no gas at first

please help me! it's a mildly built 351W with a street avenger 670cfm carb. the problem is that when i try to start it after it's been sitting a while, no gas sprays into the carb. looking down into the carb and opening the throttle, there's no gas spraying in. i have to pour gas into it a few times and hold the throttle wide open and it will start. if i let off, it will only run until it runs out of that gas. if i hold the throttle open for a minute or so while it's running, it will run on it's own at fast idle and eventually drop to curb idle. after that, even with the truck off, it sprays just like normal. it has an electric choke and that appears to be working properly. this just started the other day. i haven't changed anything. what's the deal?!

what do you mean by bleeding off? i didn't think the fuel pump would even be part of this equation since the truck isn't on yet.

The fuel pump is letting gas drain back out of the lines. Siphoning fuel out of the bowls.

Possibly. I can't say 100%, but I'm pretty sure.
