not charging
This is my first diesel. 1997 ford 7.2 Any Ideas on how to remove the alternator. I cant really see where to relieve the tenson on he surpintine belt. If the alternator is bad and is replaced, are there any other components that may need to be looked at if the batteries are still not getting a charge??

But before you pull the alternator, get a voltage meter, with the engine running you should have around 14 volts at both batteries.. If you got 14 volts, your batteries are probably bad..and your alternator is probably good.
