Bill, thanks for setting us straight on the model numbers for the overdrive transmissions. You say most of the overdrive components for the Studebaker are the same as Ford. Is that true for the OD 12 volt relay also. If so do you have the Stude part number for the 12 volt relay? Also do you have Ford part number for the little bracket that bolts under the dash that holds the overdrive cable and handle for the 53-56 F100? I've seen this bracket on mid 50s Ford cars and it looks the same as the one shown on page 12 of the 1953 Ford Truck Operator's Manual. Is it? I saw one on Ebay for a 58 car but it looked a little different so I didn't buy it. I would sure appreciate it if you could help me with this.

The O/D cable to dash bracket is Ford basic part number: 7A653. It's not shown for 1948/56 trucks, 1949/59 cars, 1960/64 cars.
EDIT: Here's the little *&&%$# AB-77249-AP .. Bracket-Overdrive Cable-1949/54 cars. 1953/56 F100's.
I didn't list the Studebaker overdrive relay part number because I couldn't find it. It's shown in the 1959/64 illustration, but there's no number shown in the text, prolly a printing error. I have other Studie parts books, but where they are, I haven't a klew. I'll have to call one of the local Studie buffs and get the number for you.

The basic part number was different for the older trucks, and not listed in my newer edition of the early parts catalog (1948/56 combined catalog printed in 1964).
I finally found the ^% %##* number in the 1953 Ford of Canada Mercury/Ford truck parts catalog.
