86 F-250 4x2 460 w/C 6, When truck sets overnight it takes a few minutes of warm up to get it to go in gear, when it's warm it engages pretty normal. since the cooler overnight temps it takes even longer, think it may be pump or converter ? has a lot of miles on it but shifts good, also reverse works hot or cold. If I rebuild it is it necessary to replace converter?
Thanks in advance!!
P.S.any rebuild kits that stand out as the best?
this is a classic symptom of a bad pump seal.
you can try putting a bottle of Lucas trans-fix in it. it may help.
what it does is swells the seal, so it dont loose pressure when it cools down.
i added it to the C4 in my falcon and got another 4 years out of the trans before i rebuilt it.

Bad pump seal?
Surely you jest.
With that age and mileage the clutch drum seals are probably shrunk and hard.
Delayed engagement when cold is a common problem with older or high mileage C6 transmissions. It is generally caused by hard seals in the forward clutch. While additives to the oil may make a temporary repair the solution is to overhaul the transmission. Additives can swell the seals to the point that an overhaul becomes more work than necessary.
