Eddie, I was curious what 3 inch cat you used from summit, do you have a part number? I saw your post in hopping up the 300/6 and i was interested in doing that, thanks.

Here I is; sorry it took me so long: Summit P/N CTO-6007, made by CATCO, $50.99, 3" i.d., stainless steel, 3-way, 14" long.

Mine's still in the box; I've done some wild gyrations atop a fence deciding whether to buy that Cliffy header or stay with the cast iron stocker manifolds/downpipes.

Stocker setup through the "Y" cat (suitably rodded out, of course)feeding the above hi-flow cat has won now that I've found our more detail on the new Houston/Galveston EPA non-attainment area smog inspection provisions.

I havn't heard great things about those headers, the 4.9L headers flow pretty well. I was thinking of replacing the Y pipes to the cat to open things up just a little.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Nov-01 AT 03:20 PM (EST)]Yeah, I think that's where I'm headed, too.

I was rambling about gutting the "Y" cat for a "stealth" visual inspection look, but if that Hi-Flo cat is indeed legitimately a qualified replacement part then I'll do a proper dual 2.25" inlet/single outlet 3" "Y". I doubt the "Y" cat has a good-flowing "Y" inside.

I'm planning on relocating the air injection nozzles to the manifolds (thick cast iron, good for drilling and threading) and reworking that nasty hickey the nozzle bosses form in the roof of the cylinder exhaust ports...you oughta see it!

State-of-the-art LS/LT-1 combustion chambers, short, direct ports, all valves tilted toward flow--I think a 4.9L head has flow possibilities to rival any wedge head on the planet, once that exhaust hickey is removed, some port-matching and bowl work is done, and Ch**y 1.94/1.60 valves are installed.

Nice truck!
