84 6 cyl timing problem
I was working on an 84 pick up with 300ci I6 that has the Dura Spark III ignition system which has the electronic spark advance control. When I checked the timing I noticed that the timing retarded, not advanced, when the rpms were increased. Since most of the emmission equipment and electronic controls are removed, I assume that is causing the problem. any ideas? My other thought was to get a distributor with vacuum advance but could use some info on wiring it,there is 6 wires going to the distributor now where as there is 3 going to an electronic ign., vacuum advance unit. thanks for your help, Jim
