Put your truck info in your posts, year, model, engine "etc"......the more info you give......the better answers you get.
If you have a floor mount dimmer switch I'd say it could be going out. Also could be your connections are dirty and corroded. Check the wires and make sure connections are good and the switch isn't moving when you push it (solid to the floor). Spray some contact cleaner in and on it too.....might help. If all that doesn't help......replace it.

Dirt and rust are your enemy here. Mine was literally caked with MUD (it was a farm truck, go figure)! But once I cleaned it and fiddled with the ground a bit, all is well. You'll probably find the same to be true. Replacement isn't difficult if that is the route you have to take, though. Ditto with the dash switch.
