Question Baffled!!!

I think I have an evil little troll living under my dash!!!!

I have an '02 150 with a 5.4 it's just a wimpy lil 2WD. My windshield leaks a lil over the passenger seat, and until the other day I could live with a few drops of liquid sunshine from time to time. But I took the wife out the other night and while driving down the road with it misting rain CABAAM the wipers quit wiping and the radio went out. So I freaked out a little bit, and then checked for water around the fuse panel and the computer it all seemed to be dry. So we get back in the truck start it back up everything is working again. I'm baffled now, so I put it in gear and everything stops again, back in park it all works. So as long as it is in neutral or park everything works, in any other gear the wipers and the radio completely go out. I already know about the problems with moisture in the GEM and that is gonna be my first thing to check out. If that dont work I'll start looking for the troll!!!!!

So my question is other than the GEM module, does anyone else have any ideas what could be going on, or what else to check?

remove the covers around the column and check for wires rubbing...
while moving the shifter to drive and park... maybe the circuit is cutting out in drive...check for other items not working

From what I've read here, the GEM is the right place to be looking.
