coolant leak

My 2000 excursion PSD has a small coolant leak dripping off the bottom radiator hose. It looks like its coming from the hard pipe that the hose attaches to. This hard pipe has a flange that bolts to the water pump. Dose anyone know if this flange has some kind of gasket or o-ring?

I had a leak in the exact same place & I took the pipe off the water pump. It was about 40K ago, but I dont *think* there was a gasket or o-ring, just a bit of sealant residue on the water pump surface. I used liberal amounts of rtv when I put it back on. Also be sure to torque it properly or it's gonna bend.

That pipe is pretty cheap metal, might as well clean it thoroughly while you have it off.

Thanks for the info I'm going to drain the system tonight and give that a try.

I drained the system last night and removed the pipe in question and there is an o-ring around the top of the pipe that slides into the water pump. O-ring was $6.51 from the Ford dealer, problem solved
