My truck is ready to pick up. Total cost - $495.00
This includes towing (25+ miles), labor, and the part. It ended up being the IPR - Fuel Pressure regulator that he had to replace. It all sounded pretty legit.
Please tell me if I did (or didn't) get screwed here.

That's not bad for towing and labor with the cost of a new IPR as long as there is a new one. If you really want to find out if the old one was bad, have them give it to you and send it to me, and I will test it.
You can do that too by just swapping the old one back in and see if the truck is dead again. I would run my scan tool on it to see what it is doing.
KSims1868, What shop did you go to? I also live in Houston and would like to know a reputable shop in case I get in over my head on something!
Guy's name is Pat Hardy from Hardy's Auto
It's located down south in Santa Fe, TX
Their phone number is: 409-925-2907
Ask for "Little Pat" - he did the work on my truck. He was referred to me by a long-time friend that sells a lot of PSD Fords, and uses this shop for all his work. Nice to see an honest independent shop still out there!!
Hey KSims & Redboat, I'm in Houston (League City) too. Good to know about Hardy's Auto, thanks. Another shop that I found that has a lot of experience in 7.3L is GASS automotive in League City.
They actually had to pull my motor to replace a head (self-inflicted, it's a long story). They asked me all the right questions, and I've had zero problems since.
Yeah - I'm on 2cool all the time (BlueWaveCapt) and I fish as often as "the boss" lets me. I have a 20' center console fishing boat and usually put in at the Galv Yacht Basin.
Small world, I'm Hoosierplugger on 2cool. Same here, as often as I can sneak out. Been fishing Trinity a lot lately. Wanna get over to Calcasieu soon though.
Not being smart but ipr is injector pressure regulator which if i remember right is about 200 and only took me about 15 min. to change. Just my .02 worth

Yes - I found them for between $200-250 online also, but I was stranged on the side of the freeway at 11:00 at night when this happened. I had to have it towed (there's $50), and if I skip a day of work I lose several hundred $$. I'm a single income family (unfortunately) raising a 2 year old daughter. For my situation...spending the extra $150 or so was well worth it.
I think you did well considering all the facts. Nobody works for free and you could have been gouged. If you can get the old IPR, I would like to test it. I will pay shipping for it. Send me a PM.
