Hello To All, Does Anyone Know If The 1979 F250 Caliper Mounting Bracket Is A Casting Or A Forging? I Am Converting My 1953 F250 To Disc Brakes And Will Be Welding The Mounting Holes Colsed And Relocating The Holes For Mounting. To Know The Type Metal These Brackets Are Made Of Will Be Important In Selecting The Welding Rod To Be Used.
Sometimes Metal Parts Are Marked As To Wheather It Is A Casting Or Forging. I See None Of These On My Brackets.

Caliper Mounts.
I am using F-250 calipers and mounts on my '77 Dana 44 High Pinion Front End and they are cast. The spindles are forged on both 4WD and 2WD. The calipers are standard Bendix sliding calipers and the caliper mounts are made for these calipers. They are both cast. All of the 2WD calipers and mounts are very similar and are cast also.
