Fuel tank sending unit issue?

Fuel tank sending unit issue?
Here is one I haven't seen yet.... My trip meter showed 380 miles on it and the warning message came on and showed "50 miles to empty". I filled up and it took right at 20 gallons. Obviously something is wrong with the sending unit and/or the computer. Has anyone experienced this oddity? The owners manual shows that I have a 30 gallon tank, and the Stealer says it is a 33 gallon tank. I will be taking it in to the local Stealer shortly, just wanted to see if anyone was had experienced this problem.
By the way the Lie Meter (reset at the previous tank), showed I was averaging 18 to 20 MPG and hand calculated MPG was 19. This was a good thing, the bad thing is that I paid $3.78/gallon.

I think all the fuel gauges are like that. Mine has a 29 gal. tank (I think), and has only held 24 gal. max. when message center said 0 miles to empty. I've even ran another thirty miles past "0 miles to empty" and only held 24 gal. I've just gotten use to it.
