Help needed on VIN plate
I'll list the info and what I've decoded:
F10ANB00548
115 7 F100 281 C 09
05000 129 4000 22
F10= F100 2 wheel drive
A = 6 cyl 240 c.i.
N = Norfolk, Virginia assembly plant
B = ??? (it is a B, not an 8 or 3)
00548 = 548th one made at that plant
115 = wheelbase in inches
7 = color code (what is the color?)
F100= duh!!
281= body type (shortbed? longbed? or just pickup?)
C = transmission type ( what kind was it?)
09 = rear axle ( what ratio?)
05000 = GVW in pounds
129 = net horsepower
4000= ???
22 = ???
The VIN plate was on the face of the driver's door, not on the cowl under the hood. It is a 1967 F100 shortbed. Does any of this info yield the month built? The "B" in the VIN particularly puzzles me. I'd also like to know the original color. The previous owner told me the truck had a manual transmission, 6 cyl engine and 4.10 rear end. Thanks for any help you can give me.
00548
is actually B00548 = 1967 Consecutive build code ( built March 1967)
7 = Harbor Blue
281
2 -Interior trim colour = Blue Vinyl bench seat
81 = conventional cab
C= 3-spd ford light duty trans
09= 3.70
4000 - 4000 rpm matches 129 hp rating
22 = DSO code = truck sent to Charlotte NC
It was then sent to the original selling Ford dealer that ordered it from Charlotte, and that dealer could be anywhere in the area serviced by the Zone Office.
The area included all of North & South Carolina and eastern Tennessee.
The Warranty Plate where the VIN is located....is on the left door face near the latch from mid 1963 thru 1991 (and maybe beyond that date). From 1948 thru midyear 1963, the plate is on the inside of the glovebox door. No VIN was ever on the cowl panel. VIN's weren't used prior to 1948.
1967 serial number range: A00,001 thru B82,000
