Map line and boost gauge placement

I'm thinking of drilling and tapping my intake for the boost gauge. I've seen a couple folks have there map and boost gauge lines on the hot side (???) of the spyder (?) just after the turbo. I've read that you see boost sooner at this point. Is there any benefit to this?

It doesn't make any difference where you tap for the boost gauge, that just indicates a reading for you to look at. The thing that counts is where you tap for the MAP sensor!

Tapping the MAP sensor on the hot side helps with off the line acceleration, because the MAP sensor see's the boost sooner, which tells the PCM to add fuel sooner, and this speeds up the process of spooling up the turbo!

Forgive my ignorance but I'm learning, don't these trucks already have a MAP sensor? If so, are you saying to move it to the hot side?

Yes, connect the hose from the existing MAP sensor to the hot (turbo) side. I think it's best to leave the boost gauge connected to the cold (intake) side so you know for sure the boost is getting to the engine, and not leaking out the CAC boots!

Do you have a pic of this, I don't want to screw it up. It's probably real simple I just need to be sure.

Gene that's a great tip! Never thought about it, but for giggles I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Thanks Gene. Sorry for the late get back, was in labor/delivery until 3AM with nothing to show for it .

I thought this as well. To many points of failure between the hot side and the actual intake.

Sorry, I don't have a pic, because I haven't done mine that way. It only helps for acceleration, and the only thing I'm interested in is towing grades! The pic above looks like a good way to do it!

I would assume so, you wouldn't want chips in there.
