After 227k, my old 460 is getting pretty worn out (plus 8 mpg is getting old) My buddy just rolled (roof touching the steering wheel) his 94 F-350 single cab 4x4 with a manual tranny.I think I can buy the truck for a song. It has 270k, but no blow-by or any other problems (that I'm aware of). My truck is also a 94 F-350 single cab 4x4 with a 5 speed. What would be the easiest way to swap the Powerstroke in mine? Would it be easier to put my body on the Stroker running gear, or vice versa? What kind of problems am I overlooking?
Will my 460 t-case bolt to the Stroker tranny (brand new case)? Should I go ahead & rebuild the Stroker completely or just do an in-frame? I know that there are lots of questions, but this is my first time taking on a project of this proportion. Help Please!!!!
Well, the engine, mounts, accessories, exhaust, wiring, computer, fuel tanks/lines/pumps, radiator, radiator core support, transmission and tranny wiring if there is any, and the cluster need to move together if you want this easy.
Swapping bodies isn't that big of a deal if you want to go that route.
Definitely body swap. Remember though, you'll have to gut the interior wiring from the rolled truck and put it in yours, as well as the gauges. I'd also check to see if there is extra insulation on the firewall and under the carpet in the PSD that you'd want to move over.
