while swapping out the broken radio, i noticed the key in ignition alarm was going off, but the keys were on the seat.
i commented about it, and he said it has been doing it for about 6 months, and if it sits for a week, the battery will go dead.
the ignition cylinder is sloppy, and i can get the chime to stop if i hold the cylinder in a certain position, or push up the cylinder removal pin.
i am going back tomorrow to look for the battery drain if it stops raining.
is it possible the drain is simply the key chime??
either way, i am going to remove the cylinder and disable the chime contacts .
I don't think that's it. My Windstar has done this for years without draining the battery. It chimes when the door is open without the key. You might look into the voltage regulator on the alt. I have seen them stick on and charge fine, but drain the battery when not running.
