Question about sales...

I didn't know where to ask this, but do any of you know anything about the demographics of Ford? I was trying to find out what % of Ford vehicles (specifically f-series trucks) are bought by Hispanics, Caucasians, etc. but I can't find anything anywhere I've looked. Any help would be great. Thanks

Well, put a check mark in the "bigot" column.

google search "ford sales demographics" and find this:

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=25193

And others. The articles here deal with age groups and what they owned prior. I would think they would be concerned with age and income primarily, previous owners vs. converts from other brands. Race? Races don't break down into buying blocks, so I doubt the marketer cares.

Try contacting Ford direct.

It doesn't exactlly make someone a bigot to not be politically correct. Political correctness has caused this country to run a muck. People are affraid to tell it like it is. I don't happen to share his veiws, but least he's honest enough to share his views without worring about being politically correct.

The marketers have to care because they need to know where to spend advertising money, Spanish language media for instance. It may not be PC, but the question is legitimate for marketing reasons.

Re read his list of insults. He's not "telling it like it is" he's broadbrushing an entire ethinic group.

Point taken, but I would guess they check the income demographic and target those who can actually buy a car....

I see what your saying, but on the other hand, thats sorta the image that the media pushes down your throat everyday on the news. It's not fair to blame a whole group for the actions of some. The mexican imigrent problem is taking center stage because of the up comming electiom and the mexicans are not being shown in a positive light, so it's not hard to get his opinion if you watch the news enough. Personally, I love everyone unless they give me a reason not to and thats on an individual base's.

I'm sure each of the manufacturers has the information available but won't release it. They don't want their vehicles to be racially profiled because they fear it would hurt sales to other groups. Several brands have been profiled without statistics. Buick owners are generally profiled as old white folks. Cadillac Escalade owners are frequently seen as rich athletes, drug dealers or celebrities. I bought a car several years ago and the first response I got was "why are you driving a ****** car". I didn't care that my car was racially profiled but I'm sure the manufacturer would worry about it.
