fuel efficient 68-77 broncos?

Did they ever put a 6 cylinder into a stock, 68-77 bronco?
If so when, and what was it (eg. straight)? If not what is the most fuel efficient stock 68-77 bronco?

I know they put 240's in some of the early ones. Try one of the Bronco forums.
