O2 sensor install questions
Truck has 103,000 miles on original factory sensors. There are 2 O2 sensors upstream of the cat. convertor. The one on the drivers side seems fairly easy to access the sensor and the elec. plug to the wiring. The passenger side elec. plug connector is WAY UP on the rear of the engine where I can barely even touch it being on a creeper under the truck, let alone trying to undo the connector. I can't see the elec. connector at all form the topside of the engine with the hood up.
Are there any tips or tricks for accessing and changing these sensors?
Question #2: Do I need to disconnect the battery during the install or do I need to disconnect the battery after the install for the engine computer to "relearn" any new info or settings?
Thanks in advance for any advice. You guys rock!
I dont know if a O2 sensor socket will assist on the passanger side but I just used a open end wrench and manuvered my arm around everything. the plug is easy to disconnect it is knocking the sensor loose on the pass. side is what is a real Pain in the butt.
get ready to throw some tools and cuss the ford engine designer a little trying to get the pass side loose but the drivers side is easy.
