Question Higher load tire than necessary?

Looking to get the girlfriend new tires for her jeep for Christmas and was wondering if anyone has ever run an e rated tire on a wrangler and what were your experiences? I figure the ride will be harsher but also figured on better wear? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldnt need anything more than a C. It will be harsher, but i dont believe you will get any better wear. Plus a P or C rated tire is much cheaper than an E.

I don't think you will get any better wear but you will sure notice a difference in the ride. Most women would not appreciate the much rougher ride.

I've never had better wear out of E tires on my F150, they just aren't worth getting when you don't need that load rating.

The load rating has nothing to do with longevity of the thread--that's what the wear rating is for (which is based on the hardness/softness of the rubber composition). The load rating has more to do with how much the sidewalls will flex with a given load. On something as light as a Wrangler that won't flex C sidewalls much, D or E tires are just plain overkill and a waste of money and material.
