folks,i need some advice before i screw up and make a decision that i may regret...here goes i have a 1983 bronco with a brand new 351 windsor, the bronco runs great, drives good but needs some work, the front end needs a few hundred dollars worth of work and it needs a rear bumper and some interior work...other than that its a good vehicle, has cold air etc...but i also have a 1982 ford f-150 2wd thats slick as glass my dad bought it brand new,its black and white...a beautiful truck but the tired old 351 is saw its better day,im considering swapping the engines between the 2 of them and selling the bronco for a few hundred bucks but i dont know if thats a wise choice or not...is that a good idea or keep the old bronco and just find another engine for the old truck?
Id put the new motor in your dads truck and just get or put old on in the bronco. Sounds like the Bronco is solid . Its paid for . You wont get one to replace it as cheap . I really miss mine can u tell? Just drive them till you find a motor or run the tired one awhile . Later
Swap the motors and keep them both!! Rebuild the motor that is tired just get a engine
stand and do it yourself in your garage if the motor is still running and doesn't have
major problems it will be a relatively easy build and be a good starting point. Just take
your time and use a cheap digital camera and take pictures while disassembling or even
video some of the portions, Take notes and take your time the satisfaction of doing it
yourself will be worth it. If you have a c6 or aod they are relatively easy to rebuild
and you can save bookoo money doin it yourself and of course you can add the better
parts into them. The aod can use the beefed up parts from the newer inproved ones!! http://books.google.com/books?id=dc7...e3N5Q#PPA31,M1 http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00080.html
The front ends can be had at boneyards alot cheaper and they usually have lots of
them!! If I ever have to do a front clip I always said I would do a one piece tilt forward
front clip so the thing is easier to work on!!
Ditto to blue beast! You won't find another full-size 4WD in decent shape for the amount of money you will need to spend to put the Bronco to rights. The F-150 sounds sweet too. Why part with either? Engines are simple enough to swap around and either get remanufactured or replaced.
In short, a solid 4WD and a worthy pick-up are best had rolled into one vehicle if yo uask me but what you have is the next best thing! Keep 'em both you won't rack up lieage on either one as yo would if you only kept one of them.
well fellas i appreciate your input, ive decided to just keep and fix the old bronco after all its pretty slick aswell...the old truck of my dads can wait until i find another donor vehicle or just save the money to have it rebuilt...theres no sense in junking out a perfectly good vehicle anyways..thankyou!!!!!
