Long term storage

I'll be deploying to AssCrackistan this coming Feb. Since I'll have to store my '06 250, I was wondering what kind of problems I will encounter and what i should do so that it will fire off when I get back?

Even though the vehicle is not new, the following is still the recommended procedure for long term PSD storage.

Other than that a good fuel treatment would be a good idea. Inflating the tires to 85 - 90 psi will help prevent flat spots and a battery tender could not hurt.

instead of overinflating the tires, wouldn't it be better for the tires to just jack the truck up enough to get the tires off the ground and block the axles up?

Hey Iam here already deployed. Lucky for me my wife drove my 2004 350 DRW 6.0 CC. Now I have stored other vehicles in the past with not so good results. Did all the proper things just having a truck or car sit kills them. If its a deisel truck you should and I highly recommend this have someone at least start it up once a mth. We had several guys store thier vehicles and come home to leaks and other problems. Now if you must store it here goes. Fuel if deisel can not sit for a yr without turning bad. I have seen fuel in military equipment turn to turpintine(spelling) like solution. Second tires need to get them off the ground or overfill with air pressure. 3rd change all fluids and unfortunate you will have to change them all over when u get back. Put air freshner in cab, and any vents. in gas engines I would drop a spoon full of oil down the spark plug slot to lubricate pistions and rings. Also the turbo vanes can rust so some kinda of oil to lubricate them as well. Batteries just take them out and store of ground. belts lubricate them with belt dressing. All rubber products (hoses) etc need to be lubricated also. Cover the truck and leave a crack in 1 window, if inside storage(if outside you are screwed from get go) Moth ***** inside cab if thier is any hint of little criiters in your area. I seen a soldiers brand new truck interior get destroyed by mices. I am a single digit midget here but enjoy and stay safe bro. Cold here Jan through March. Take care and sfae trip. Good luck with truck storage
