1986 F-150 LARIAT W/ 5.0 V8. For about a month now, I can change the heat control from one position to another and the air continues out of the air vents. Read an earlier post and it said it could be the flap hinge or a vacuum line under the hood. Checked the vacuum lines and no problem there.Looked under the dash and with the truck running, moved the control to different positions and the valve moves and you here a light thump, but the air from the vents continues. Help please. Thanks
Take the radio out and look down in there, On the side of the control unit(right) there
is the vacuum control unit sometimes the tabs break on it and the lever will not activate it to make the change. You could probably get away with zip tying it on there. Or do what I did and take out the whole control unit since I don't have heat
or ac and just put a switch for fan on and off and the speed switch and put the vent
selector underneath the dash in case I want to switch to defrost. I made a radio and
fan control panel out of diamond plate.
