Ok all you gear heads this is my fist post so take it easy. I would like to upgrade my 4 speed with over drive manual transmission to a 4 speed manual tranny with first gear a granny gear. Is this possible? If so how? thanks
There was a guy who made an engine to bell housing adapter so you could use a SBF tranny behind the 2.8, 2.9. or 4.0. I don't know a lot about it just saw posts on it a few times. I would think you'd need a body lift and some floor pan (tunnel area) fab work and need to make your own tranny cross member. And use the the full size t-case as I know of no adapters to use the 1350. If it's something you'd like to look into send me a PM and I'll try to find the guys info. Don't know about the clutch either.
There is no realistic way to get a Ford granny first (T-18 or NP-435 behind a FE) into a Bronco II unless you are willing to spend about the money to buy a NV4500 and the Advance Adapters adapter for the FSB. I don't think they make an adapter for the 2.9L.
AA doesn't but there is a guy who does.....or did. He is on another board. He has his own small company (4XFAB?) and his main product is a 1350 based doubler. I have a link for the thread where a 435 (from a SBF I think) was put behind a 4.0 in a Explorer.
