I am thinking of buying a Ranger pickup as a daily driver and occasional hauler for light loads. Can anyone give me the factory spec hauling and towing capacities for a 2000 with the 3.0L engine? Thanks
Your towing capacity is probably identical to the 2007 model as there have been no substantial changes in the Ranger since 2000. Depending upon your configuration, with the 3.0 engine you can tow about 2500 lbs. Frankly, I think that engine would struggle with anything over 1500 lbs. but at least the suspension of the truck should be handle the weight.
We'll need a LOT more info to be specific on haul & tow weights, for your 3.0L.
But overall Ranger payload ratings, depending on which payload package the vehicle has, what wheel base it is, size tires, what kind of cab & if it was 4x2, or 4x4, ranged from 1260 to 1660 lbs.
OEM trailer weights for the stock 3.0L ranged from 2240 to 4000 pounds, depending on, axel ratio, manual or auto tranny, 2 or 4wd, regular or super cab & what kind of hitch you'll use, or if you tow off the bumper, then your limited to 2000 lbs.

My 1999 brochure states:
Supercab 4x2 3.0V6 manual trans 2580#
Auto trans 4000#
Reg cab and or 4x4 will be slightly different.
My 99 super cab 4x2 with the 2.5L 5speed handels my 3000# tent camper fine.
