Okay, I just bought a new throttle position sensor, but I have yet to put it on. I thought I'd get some other ideas before I put it on. I have a 95 F150 regcab lwb with a 302 auto, the engine acts like it wants to cut out and does sometimes, then it will rev up and down and then shut off. Like it's having a hard time getting air, I changed out the air filter also. I'm about to pull the throttle body off to change the TPS, but I was wondering if it may be the throttle body itself causing the problem. Thanks for the help
Pull the codes and give us the info. . www.fordinjection.com has how to pull codes (with a paper clip ) as well as check all sensors. And save $$$ in the process.
I appreciate the info, I went to my sisters today and I wrangled my brother-in-law into hooking up to a computer. He works at a ford dealership as the head deisel mechanic as well as working on other cars. Just trying to get him to do anything is real tough, ain't in-laws great. Thanks again
mine did that when I bought it along with many other things. I replaced a few things on it when I first got it but I believe the culpit for that was the EGR silonoid. I think I also had to replace my IAT but that wasn't the ide problem if I remember correctly.
mine did the same thing, i replaced the tps the other day and this morning was a cold morning so i left it warm up 15 minutes before i left work. The idle did not surge like it used too. it used to surge so bad while i left it warm up in the morning that ot would stall.
I have a 95 bronco with a 302 and am having the same problem. Not every time I start it but most of the time it will rev up to around 1500 rpm and then drop down to around 500-600 rpm and die some times. If it doesn't die it will return to normal idle. I replaced the tps this week and it did fine for about a day then started it up again. It will not set any codes even though every time it revs up the cel flashes.
