Red face VIN Numbers

I have two pickups one a 1961 the other a 1965 . The VIN on the 1961 is F10CK182275 The 1965 is F10JK696449. Could someone tell more about these numbers. I looked on the decoder but would like to know more .

The vins don't tell you much - the rest of the info is on the rating plate.

F10 - F100 half-ton
C - 292 'Y' block
K - Kansas City, KS assembly plant
182275 - produced June 1961

F10 - F100 half-ton
J - 223 six cylinder
K - Kansas City, KS assembly plant
696449 - produced June 1965

The rating plate on the 1961 is on the in side of the glove box door Trans F and Axle 11. I will have to look at 1965 again.

F code trans is 4 spd Warner T-98A and the 11 code axle is Ford 9" 3.70 ratio.

I believe the J code for the 65 would be for a 240. The 223 was last used in 64.

Absolutely right John! Sorry about that - I just looked at it wrong. Thanks for setting him straight.

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the assembly plant in Missouri?
