I picked up a jump start box from Menards today for cheap. It is the Peak 300amp unit. Anyone used this before? Used one like it? How many starts do you get between charges?
That is the ticket recharge it right after using it and at least use it to power something
and recharge it once a month for the best battery life out of it. You could use a fog
light to discharge it monthly and then let it cool for a hour or so and then recharge.
Don't forget like any battery you get about 300-400 charge discharge but improperly
storing and charging can cut that big time. A warning about those new lithium batteries that are becoming more common you need to store them at half their voltage
or else they will self discharge to a too low level!! Look on you tube for Lipoly or lithium
battery fires and see the care you should take with them!! A Nickel based battery will self discharge to about half power in 30 days.
I have one from Oreillys Auto. I have used it to jump a bulldozer with no problems, I have also used it to jump other friends vehicles, charging it back up after each use. A couple months ago, using the power inverter to power a laptop in my truck at work kept killing my battery, and I used it 4 times to jump my truck off before I had to charge it. Handy Dandy little tool to have, I charge it up even if I dont use it every two months or so.
