engine wont start
1981 ford f150 4.9 L straight 6
my truck will start up and run really rough and then flood and leak out of the bottom of the carb. I even tried to regulate the amout of fuel by putting vice grips on the fuel line. Ive been trying to fix this problem for months. But the carb always floods or runs really rough. Please help me.
Ps i took the spark plugs out and cleaned them because of the carbon deposites on them. The truck idled fine for 15 minutes and then it ran rough and flooded and stalled. I inspeacted the plugs and they had carboned up. What is the problem.?

ps. egr valve is closed and operating
this is a 1bbl carb and it is remanufactured
i have a new fuel pump
i have new fuel lines
new fuel filter
air filter is good
i replaced the spark plugs 1.5 years ago and have only ideled the engine (it probably ideled in all for 8 hrs) thats pretty much the only time it ran.
Should i replace the plugs and wires and caps??
