Z-Max

Anyone have any experience with Z-Max; either the oil or fuel additive? I saw a fairly convincing 'two guys garage' visit to the manufacturer who makes the stuff, but I have always been a skeptic of any additives. They demonstrated how the product was absorbed by metal, continuously providing lubrication, etc. Then I saw the price and thought it was pretty high - any experience with this product - or just a waste of money?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Two Guys also reccomend the "Tornado" air intake widget. Don't put any stock into what they have to say. Their opinions are for hire.

If you do a search for Zmax on this forum I think you'll find out what kind of snake oil it really is. I'm surprised they can even still sell it.

Sad part is Carroll Shelby make a commercial for ZMax and when i visted Unique Performance where they build his 1967 GT500, GT350, and AC Cobra, no one was adding anything except Mobil 1 oil and normal gas, no addatives what so ever

Sounds like one of the regular scams the more I think about it - I haven't seen any concrete proof that it actually works or not, which usually means it doesn't. I'm sure that the manufacturers would like it if it really worked. Perhaps they sell just enough at that high price to scrape by.

Thanks sportscar, that's good info. Not too surprised; and glad to see some solid info.

"tests cited to support performance claims actually demonstrated that motor oil treated with zMax produced more than twice as much bearing corrosion than motor oil alone, and that the three different products - an engine additive, a fuel line additive and a transmission additive - were all actually tinted mineral oil." - Among other interesting things about zmax - FTC
