Im deeply considering taking out my Edge chip,If i do,will the truck relearn itself or will there be anyrecourse by doing so? The reason being is Im told it depletes your fuel mileage!,I have tried it on all 3 settings and not much of a difference, Im getting about 500-530 a tank of diesel is there something grossly wrong with that mileage or what can i do or is that all these big piggies get?
How are your driving habits(not only how you drive, but the type of driving as well(city, highway, combination, how many miles one way, terrain that you are driving etc.))? A lot of variables go into mpg, more then what a lot of people realize or think about.
Do you have a short bed or long bed? Getting 500-530 miles on a tank for a short bed is great regardless of how you drive. If it's a long bed then that's about average.
Its a short box ammarillo350 diesel with high flow air filter and edge juice chip!

so tex are you saying that to take out the chip would be not necessary? I do 50/50 city hiway! Im not much of a racer guy!
Taking it out could be helpful, if it's causing you to drive like a maniac because you like the power so much. I cannot say(will I could, but it wouldn't be as accurate as I would make it out to be or anyone else for that matter) that you mileage will definately improve if you remove the chip or leave it in there. If you removed it and got better mileage, it could have been removing the chip or it could have been because after you removed the chip you started driving like a normal person. You could experiment and take the chip out and drive like you did if you had it in there and if you noticed a difference in mileage then it might be a little stronger of a correlation then before. Sorry I couldn't be more exact on that.

While a short box v. a long box does have an impact, how you drive with what you have also impacts how much the impact the long or short box has on your mileage. So in effect driving habits will always apply.

I think what Powerstroke was getting at is the shortbed trucks have a much smaller gas tank. The original poster never really said what he was getting as far as mpg, only that he was getting a little over 500 miles per tank. The longbed trucks with 38 gallon tanks should get that easily (13.2mpg), but a shortbed with the 29 gallon tank has to get 17.2mpg.
