Ok here is the prob I broke the pluse ring on my 96 150 Ford. This is the ring that is behind the damperner for the crank sensor to pick up crank postion. I was offroading and got a rock in there and broke it. But all the parts sotres say it is a dealer only part. My Ford dealer is a dumba*&. They say the only way to get it is to buy a front ebd kit at $321 bucks. The kit is a new damperner pluse ring keyway timeing cover seal and new alen bolts for the bluse ring oh and a new senseor this sounds fishy to me. You wise guys here have helped me out befor for any ideas here. Oh I was woundering if I could tig it back to geather and then mill it back flat. I have a laythe to spin it out on. I do have the piece that broke off it but I was concerned about it not being balanced.
I think what you are referring to is the Crankshaft Fluctuation Misfire Sensor or Misfire Sensor & or the ring that the sensor monitors . Was the sensor damaged or was it the ring ? It very well may be that you have to purchase the sensor , ring etc to repair it . I couldnt find any info on it other than testing it & replacing it . It may be that Ford designed it all to be replaced if damaged . The engine still runs , correct ? Its not the crank sensor in terms that it controls the coil firing , Its mainly to detect misfire conditions that may occur from other problems like faulty spark plugs wires etc . Im thinking its one of those deals that if a problem occurs in one area , the whole assembly is sold to repair the problem . The $332 may be what you have to pay to replace it .
yes the it still runs but like crap now I just caled if what Ford putter called it and that is a pluse ring or so says Ford. No the sensor if fine it has a feed back on .5 mlv I realy want to know if i cant tig weld it and be done with it. I mean that is awfull price for a little piece of meteal.
It all depends on what that ring is made of as to whether or not it can be welded . From what I recall the Ecu monitors the signal from the misfire sensor & if its not getting that signal from the ring because its missing or damaged then its likely youre going to have some engine running problems . If that ring is made out of material that welds & you can reinstall & weld it , then try it . I dont think the balance is going to be an issue , Id be more concerned as to how long it will last .
