Hello, I am new to this site. I don't know if you all talked about audio for a F-150. So my question is what size speakers or High's can fit in a 1999 XLT?
I am also thinking of some audio upgrades to my '97 F250 LD supercab.
I have an alpine CD that the previous owner installed, it sounds really good even with the stock speakers. I want to install some wedge speakers on the corner of the windows, my wifes '01 escape and my daughters '98 mustang both have these on them.
Has anyone done this to their F-series?
If so, what vehicle has the best fit for the F-series that looks stock.
Also, do the wedge speakers come in different colors to match the interior color (my truck has tan) or just black? Both the Escape and the Mustang are black.
I will probably scour the Junk Yards for some from a Ford product that has them.
You will probably have to go to a scrap yard or the dealership. Maybe the F series that had the "audiophile" system in it would have it. But personally i have never seen it in a f series.
Another thing to think about, if you had the wedge speakers there, how well can you see out of your mirrors?
If you are worried about not being able to hear the music as well as if you had wedge speakers, then get some speakers that have rotating tweeters.
I got only 2 speakers(front 2), i took out the back 2 because i couldnt tell much of a difference with them there to want to spend another $70 or more for new speakers there too(but im also a reg. cab). I got 2 pioneer speakers from walmart for like $70. I picked them because they are made to fit in ford vehicles(same mounting holes), and they sound pretty good, esp. compared to the stockers.
5X7's are the stock size I do believe, could be 6X8 as well. Most aftermarket brands in that size are direct fit for our trucks like the 5x7 Alpines I installed.
Those are nice......are they powered by the deck or amplifier??
Just my head unit. My HU puts out 52Wx4 and the speakers are rated for 50W. It's plenty. Sounds soooo much better than the stock speakers...if I had the money I would replace the rear ones too.
