I am looking into getting some new tires soon I have Michelins now and I am thinking of trying Yokohama Geolanders H/TS on my 2000 EB Expy any thoughts.
I have had a bad experience with Yokohama Geolanders. They're very cheap compared to the Michelins, but if I had to do it over again, I would pay the premium, expecially if you plan to keep the truck for a while.
Just put a set of Michelin Cross-Terrian SUV on the wifes Expy. Awesome tire, much better then the Conitracs it came with. I would agree on the cheapness of the Yokahamas.
To see what a particular model of tire looks like after it's rolled around the block a few thousand times, check out the photos of used tires on one of those that auction sites to see what the tread of the tires looks like when it is worn down. The photos never seem to show cupping. I suppose if you are in the used tire business you shave them to make them look nice.
I have personally switched from Michelin LTX's to Yokohama Geolander H/T-S (GO51) on my 2004 Expedition EB (265/70/17) and I do not regret it at all. I have received the same performance with my Yokohama's that I had with my Michelin's so far (but at $30 less per tire). I will never have anything bad to say about Michelin tires, but the Geolander H/T-S (GO51) is by far the best bang for your buck when it comes to top notch tires for your Expedition. Plus it looks great on both sides (Raised White Letters on one side All Black on the other).
I am running the Geolander H/T-S on my 150 supercrew and have put around 40k on them and still would trust them for another 20k more did'nt have this kind of mileage with the Michelin and sure won't pay $160.00 + for them again just not going to do it think you would be very happy with the H/T-S.
Another option I am running are the Kelly Signature Suv got 60k out of them on my wifes 00 Expy. and would bye them again.
I have Brindgestone At REVOs and they are great in the snow or on the beach but I just got Wrangler Silent Armor for my wifes truck and has an aggressive tread but VERY quiet. Will se tomorrow how they work in the snow.
